Lower Howards b

Meet the Manager - Clare Sipple

My introduction to the Lower Howard’s Creek Valley began at a very early age. Friends and family took me down to the creek throughout my childhood. My grandmother regaled me with stories of pioneer adventures there, and my mother shared her love for the birds and wildflowers that inhabit the valley.

My connection with the creek became stronger as I began to explore it on my own. I continue to gain a better understanding of its importance as a travel corridor and commercial area in the 18th and 19th centuries. And my appreciation of its natural and man-made features has only grown stronger over the last fifty years.

In all my travels, I’ve never found a place with such a rich combination of cultural and natural resources. It still piques my imagination and soothes my soul.

The Preserve is spectacular in all seasons, but shows off best in autumn, winter and spring. I hope you will decide to visit Lower Howard’s Creek soon and that you will be inspired enough to share your experiences with others.

See you at the creek!
